David at age 13
David Winters was born in London, England. After moving to the United States he became a child actor and appeared in 150 television shows and 12 Broadway shows on the New York stage. One of these Broadway shows was West Side Story. Mr. Winters was then brought to Hollywood to play the part of A-Rab in the motion picture version of West Side Story. That motion picture went on to win 10 Academy Awards and became a classic.
It was during this time that David teamed up with the now famous Paul Simon (Simon & Garfunkle) in a singing duo that went by the name of David Winters and the West Siders. David and Paul wrote all of their own material, played all of the instruments on their recordings and sang all of the voices too.

In Hollywood Mr. Winters opened up a dancing school and taught such famous actors as Ann-Margret, Raquel Welch, Richard Chamberlain, etc. He became Elvis Presley's choreogrpaher and at a very young age he choreographed five Elvis Presley movies, including Viva Las Vegas, six with Ann-Margret and many other major studio productions including the highly acclaimed Barbra Streisand / Kris Kristoferson film A Star Is Born.

During this time David also appeared as a guest star on the Nancy Sinatra Special with Frank Sinatra, Nancy Sinatra and Dean Martin for which he received his first Emmy nomination for excellence in television. David appeared as a guest star and choreographed Grace Kelly's Monaco with Princess Grace Kelly, and as a regular dancer and singer on the famous NBC TV Rock & Roll series Hullabaloo.

For excellence in television David has won the coveted Peabody Award, Christopher Award, three World Television Awards and six Emmy nominations.

After this he choreographed and directed the 2nd Unit on the film The Island of Doctor Moreau starring Burt Lancaster and Michael York. Mr. Winters then set his sights on producing and directing. His first directing job was the Emmy winning TV series The Monkees.
